Knit Preemie Hat
A Close Knit Pattern
Sport Weight yarn, less than 100 yards.
(machine washable non wool yarn. Comfort DK suggested)
Size 3 needles.
Cast on 60 stitches. Work in knit 2, purl 2 ribbing for 6 inches.
Begin decrease for top.
Row 1-*Knit 2 together, purl 2 together* repeat between * across the row
Row 2- Knit 2 together across the row.
Cut yarn, leaving a tail of about 12 inches. Slip the stitches onto the cut yarn, pull tight for top of hat. Sew seam.

Size G or H hook, work should be loose.
Abbreviations:
Ch- chain
sc -single crochet
dc- double crochet
Chain 8, join to make a ring.
Ch 3, 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top ch of ch3. (16 dc).
Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, * dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * around, join with sl st in top of ch 3. (24 dc)
Rnd 2-8: Ch 3, dc in each st around, join with sl st in top of ch 3. (24 dc)
MATERIALS:1 Skein Vintage Chunky (130 yds bulky weight)Rnd 9: Ch 1 sc in same st, sc ch 2 sc in next st. *sc in next st, sc ch 2 sc in next st. Repeat * around. Join with sl st to first sc and finish off.

Warf Cap
A Close Knit Pattern
MATERIALS:
Adult size- 1 Skein Vintage Chunky (130 yds bulky weight)
Child size- 1 Skein Vintage Worsted Weight (130 yards)
size 9 16” circular needle
size 9 DPNs
4 stitch markers
tapestry needle
SPECIAL TERMS
tbl: Through the Back Loop - Knit the stitch through the back.
ssk: Slip Slip Knit - Slip the next two stitches as if to knit from the left to the right needle. Knit them together through the back. (Left leaning decrease.)
HAT:
CO 80 stitches.
Place marker to mark beginning of the round and join for working the round. Be careful not to twist.
Foundaton Row: K1, P1 for one round.
Twisted Rib Pattern:
Row 1 - 20: *K1 tbl, P1*, repeat across round.
Turning Round:
Row 21: At the beginning of the round, slip the first stitch as if to knit onto the right needle. Bring the yarn to the front of the work and slip the stitch back to the left needle, being careful to keep the yarn loose around the slipped stitch. Turn your work inside out so the inside of the hat is now on the outside.
Row 21 - 41: Continue in Twisted Rib Pattern.
Row 42: Continue in pattern, placing a marker every 20 stitches. (Be sure you Round Marker you originally placed is identifiable for the beginning of your round.) You will have four markers total.
Decreasing Rounds:
Row 43 - 56: *SSK after each marker. Work the next stitches in pattern until you get to the next marker.* Repeat. Change to dpns when there are too few stitches to work comfortably on the 16” circular. You should end with 6 stitches between each marker.
Row: 57: Work one round in pattern without decreasing.
Finishing:
Cut the yarn and using the tapestry needle, thread it through the remaining 24 stitches. Pull tightly to close the crown and weave in the end. Weave in the end of the Cast On edge. Turn up brim of hat.

Two Needle Mittens
Worsted weight yarn
Needle size varies- the size of the mitten is determined by the size of the needle. Same number of stitches, only the needle size change.
Infants: # 2 & # 3 needles
Toddler # 3 and #4.
Child #4 and #5 ,
Small adult #4 and #6
Med adult #5 and #7
Large adult #5 and 8.
Cast on 34 sts.
Ribbing K2, P2, across. Continue ribbing for 20 rows. Last Row Inc to 38 sts, 4sts evenly spaced. (Inc to 38 sts.)
Change to larger needle Work stockinette stitch for 6 rows for adult size, 4 rows for child size, 2 rows for baby or toddler.
Next row- begin shaping thumb gusset
Knit 18 stitches, place marker, increase in next two stitches, place another marker.
Four stitches between the markers.
Finish the row, purl back.
Next row- knit to marker, slip marker, increase in next stitch, knit to stitch before the second marker, increase, slip marker and knit to end of row.
Repeat the increase row until there are 14 stitches between markers.
Place these 14 stitches on a holder for working the thumb later.
Next row- Purl to thumb, increase two stitches across the space (make a backward loop) purl to end.
Continue in stockinette stitch until mitten reaches to the top of the pinky finger.
Approximate length of stockinette stitch
Infant- 2 ½ inches
Toddler3 3 inches
Child- 4 inches
Small adult- 5 inches
Medium adult (standard woman) 5 ½ inches
Large adult (standard man) 6 inches
Start decreasing as follows.
Row 1: *K 2 tog, knit 8*, rep * across.
Row 2 and all-even rows. Purl across even.
Row 3: *K 2 tog, knit 7*, rep * across.
Row 5: *K2 tog, knit 6*, rep * across.
Row 7: *K2 tog, knit 5*, rep * across.
Row 9: *K2 tog, knit 4*, rep * across.
Row 11: * K2 tog, knit 3*, rep * across.
Row 13: Knit 2 together across.
Weave yarn through stitches, pull tight, and sew side seam.
Thumb:
Pick up the 14 stitch plus cast on 2.
Work the 16 stitches for 10 rows in st st.
Next Row: knit 2 tog across.
Weave yarn through stitches, pull tight, and sew thumb seam.
