________ FEARLESS FAIR ISLE Fair Isle is a color knitting technique in which you work two different colors on the same row to form a repeating pattern. It is a very fun skill to learn. In this class, we will make a Fair Isle hat using either a snowflake, skull, or heart motif. While working Fair Isle in the round, you will learn to knit with your "other" hand. Supplies to bring: Yarn: ADULT size Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors, approximately 180 yards of MC, and 90 yards of CC; CHILD size DK weight yarn in 2 colors, approximately 136 yards of MC, and 50 yards of CC. Needles: ADULT size US size 7 or 8 16” circular and DPN in the same size; CHILD size US size 5 or 6 16” circular and DPN in the same size. Additional Materials: Stitch markers, pen or pencil,

________ LIFE LESSONS IN LACE An introduction to lace knitting. We will knit a lace sampler, to explore stitches and how to use them, using both charts and written instructions. Continue your sampler into a scarf, or keep it as a reference. Knitters should be comfortable with increasing and decreasing, yarn overs and knit two together.

_______ MITTERED SQUARE TECHNIQUE Learn this fun technique for knitting mitered squares. They are easier to create than you would think. This workshop will teach you the technique for making and joining these magical squares (there is no sewing involved!), as well as tips and tricks for neater edges and finishing. Once you know the technique, you can apply it to different types of projects....scarves, shawls, blankets, vests! Warning....mitered squares are addictive! Supplies to bring: Small amounts of several colors of worsted weight yarn, (recommend light colors and non-textured yarns, so you can see your stitches.) Appropriate sized needles (US size 8 or 9 ) Basic knitting tool kit (scissors, tapestry needle, locking ring stitch markers, post it notes, etc. )

________ CROCHETING OVER THE EDGE We will learn some basic and not so basic edgings that you can use as the finishing touch to your knitted or crocheted project. Students should know how to chain, work slip stitches, and single and double crochet stitches. HOMEWORK: Using light colored worsted weight, two swatches, 30 stitches, 30 rows, single crochet AND two swatches, 30 stitches, 30 rows double crochet OR two swatches 30 stitches , 30 rows, garter stitch AND two swatches, 30 stitches, 30 rows, stockinette stitch. SUPPLIES TO BRING: multiple colors of worsted weight yarn, Size H hook.

_______ FELTED SOAPS and GARNISHINGS Felted soap functions as a built in washcloth and gently exfoliates while creating a lovley lather. Plus, it’s just pretty! As the soap is used up the felt casing will shrink with it until it gets very small allowing you to use every last bit as well extending the life of your soap. Once the soap is gone you will be left with a small, great smelling, felt pouch that can be cut open and used to put something special in. Supplies are provided.
