Who Said Nobody Knits in the Summer?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

Some people don’t think of knitting and summer as going together. When the weather gets hot, really hot, nobody wants a pile of wool in their lap.

But there are other things to knit, and lots of knitting activity.

Check out what was going on in the store-

Cyndi's Wrap

Cyndi came in so we could help her measure her Genevieve wrap. It’s best done spread out on a flat surface. We did have to rip back, a little, but somehow it’s less painful to watch the work disappear when you have company.

Rosanne's Linen Top

Rosanne has been working on the Linen Top, another summery item. It is getting to the point when it feels like a large piece of knitting, but since it’s linen it’s not as warm to work on as wool would be. She needed reassurance that she was on the right track, and that it will fit her. At the rate she’s going it may be done to wear while it’s still August.

Marcy's Pie Baby Sweater

Marcy wanted a little supervision in decreasing the fronts of the Pie Baby Sweater. It’s her first sweater, so she’s being careful. She’s definitely on the right track. The back is done, and the first front getting it’s decreases.

The moral support offered at the store goes a long way in reassuring knitters that they are on the right track with their projects. Sometimes we have to be brutal, and rip, but I’d rather get it done correctly.

Remember the Genevieve Wrap?

Genievieve Wrap

It’s been getting lots of action.

Customers keep trying it on.

New Wrap Style

Look how she found another way to wear it.

Joan came by to show off her wrap.

Joan's Wrap

The purple is lovely.

Some knitters have taken a slightly different route, and rather than use the Bonsai for the wrap were planning on using the same drop stitch pattern to make a rectangular stole. We’re hoping someone will bring one in so we can see it.

New yarns keep arriving in the store, you never know what you’ll find when you stop in.
